Threads of Memory

While I was visiting my mum recently, the weather changed suddenly as it often does this time of year. She handed me her jumper and I took it home, where I’ve been putting it on every morning. There’s something about wearing my mother’s clothes that is so comforting. It’s as though the threads carry the warmth of her care and the safety of her presence.
I was reminded that clothes are so much more than a visual statement, they are a felt experience and they carry the imprint of our emotions and memories. Each time I put on my mum’s jumper, or hand wash my silks, or repair a button, I remember that life is simply a series of memories stitched together, and our clothes are the quiet witnesses to it all.
We move, sweat, laugh, cry and rejoice in our clothes. In some of the most important moments of our lives, we may not recall what was said, but we often remember what we were wearing. For me, fashion is deeply tied to personal identity and storytelling. Our garments hold the stories of our past and the hopes of our future. They represent, at the same time, who we were and who we aspire to be.
I had the pleasure of sharing these sentiments at our pop-up in Melbourne last year. Our VIP Night was an evening full of heartfelt conversations and moments of connection that replenished me in ways I didn’t know I needed. Perhaps this is what sustainability is truly about—not just restoring the planet, but restoring our humanness.
Thank you for making our first petite pop-up a huge success. It was truly special to connect with so many women who share our love for slow fashion and timeless design. In 2026, we hope to bring you more in-store experiences centred around community and connection. Curated spaces where you can discover, feel and explore our garments in person.
Thank you for showing up and supporting Petite Femme. We can’t wait to meet you again soon.
With intention,
Annie
